GENERATION NEXT YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT (TGNYES) is a youth empowerment summit borne with a vision to identify that latent power – passion, inborn in our youths spread across Nigeria and indeed Africa, against adverse circumstances – igniting them towards crossing barriers, breaking new frontiers and daring to achieve outstanding feats in their various endeavors, in life and for our country. The summit is youth centered and youth focused, with a mission to BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS in all their socio-political and economic life.
Project “The Generation Next Youth Empowerment Summit” is a conception of ELBATIVENI FOUNDATION, with the mission : “To Advance Youth Development in Nigeria and the continent of Africa and to lend voice to progressive gender Advocacies" alongside the PR and Marketing Communications corporate brand- Elbativeni Impressions and Consult. The Summit is a project borne out of the need to build capacity for the youths of Nigeria and continent, of Africa who are living in a contemporary and challenging time, as integral to engendering their development and upward advancement, for a better country and continent.
The Fourth Edition of The Generation Next Youth Empowerment Summit (TGNYES) 2018! .
The Maiden edition of the Summit was in Kaduna-Nigeria on September 25, 2010 with a theme “EMPOWERING YOUR UNIQUENESS” and had inspirational speakers from Nigeria and Abroad including Mr Ini Akpabio, Managing Director of Nanet Group, owners of Nanet Hotels; Mr Sheriff Balogun, Current President, American Chamber of Commerce as well as MD Shebag Holding; Mr. Abbas G. Idriss Director General Federal Capital Territory (F.C.T) Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); Dr. Sani Dahiru, Director General, Kaduna Business School and Mr. Niyi Adesanya, CEO Fifth Gear Nigeria.
In 2016, the second edition was convened with the theme “LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES”, which held on the 28th of May, 2016 at the Women Development Centre Abuja. The second edition had in presence notable personalities and speakers including Dr. David Osei from Ghana who at the time was a Project Director for the USA Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI); Prince C Agbata- Ghana,Co-Founder of Coliba, a real time paying online waste management platform; Dr. Sam Amadi, Former Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission; Mr. Tope Fasua, CEO Global Analytics Consulting Ltd Nigeria,Ghana,Uk; Mr. Ugochukwu Umeogu, CEO Joseph Consulting and mentoring Ltd amongst others in attendance.
2017 event played host with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC); Former serving Ambassador of the Embassy of Ecuador in Nigeria, Former Minister of Information in Nigeria Frank Nweke Jnr. Mr. Daniel Maxwell Jr. from Liberia- A coach, leadership and marketing strategist. He is also passionate about helping young people build a good foundation for their marital life. Benson is married to patience and they are blessed with 3 adorable children. They currently have their home in Jos Plateau state, NIGERIA.
Adepeju Jaiyeoba is the Founder Brown Button Foundation, an NGO working to improve the face of healthcare delivery in rural communities.
Adepeju has experience across maternal and child health, Law, civic leadership, policy formulation and legislative drafting, as well as youth engagement. Specifically, her work focuses on doing business in Africa as well as prioritizing maternal and child health and was in fact honoured by the then United States President, Barack Obama and hosted at the White House, Washington for her effort.
A graduate of Law from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Adepeju is a President Barack Obama White House honouree, 2017 100 Most inspiring Women in Nigeria, 2017 Crans Montana Young Leader of Tomorrow, 2017 JCI Top Outstanding Young Person in Nigeria (Medical Innovation Category), 2017, JCI Top Outstanding Young Person of the World awardee, 2016 Research Fellow, International Centre for Women, Canada, 2016 PATH Innovation Champion, 2016 D-Prize Awardee in Global Health, 2015 Cordes Fellow, Fellow, Global Women in business, Georgia Institute of Technology, Young Innovator, World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow awarded by President Barack Obama of the United States, United States African Development Foundation (USADF) 2014 Business and Entrepreneurship Awardee, She Leads Africa’s top 10 female entrepreneur for Diaspora Demo day, 2015 YNaija top 10 most influential Nigerians under 40 (Advocacy), and an acknowledged Global Change Leader by the Coady International Institute, Canada.
With background knowledge in Business from the University of Texas at Austin USA, Adepeju has had experience working with the United Nations Foundation as well as other top organisations, helping to build strategy and develop work plans for establishing businesses or branches across the African continent.
She has spoken at a number of events addressing high level audience including Presidents of countries and stakeholders. She is a two-time speaker at the United Nations Foundation Social Good Summit, has addressed the United States Congress Black Caucus group to help the current US administration draw priority focus areas in Africa on healthcare and served on several panels discussing issues across youths, women, innovation, policy formation and business in Africa.
